The Role
As Research Analyst, you are responsible for converting noise into edge. You will design and maintain the research workflows that feed our trading decisions. Building the data sets, models, and dashboards that tell us where conviction is warranted and where it is not.
What you'll do
- Source and structure data. Build and maintain clean, reliable pipelines across market, fundamental, and alternative data sets.
- Generate and test ideas. Form hypotheses, design back-tests, and quantify the edge — then try hard to break your own conclusions before the market does.
- Model risk and reward. Frame every opportunity in measured risk:reward terms, with explicit assumptions and downside scenarios.
- Build the read. Produce concise research notes, dashboards, and signals that let the desk act with conviction and speed.
- Sharpen the system. Continuously improve our tooling, automation, and research infrastructure so insight compounds over time.
What we look for
- Quantitative fluency. Strong statistics and data-analysis foundations; you reason in distributions, not anecdotes.
- Technical capability. Comfort with Python (pandas/NumPy) or an equivalent stack, and with SQL for working data first-hand.
- Market intuition. Genuine curiosity about how markets move and why — and the humility to update when the data disagrees.
- Intellectual honesty. You separate signal from story, flag your own uncertainty, and would rather be correct than be right.
- Clarity under ambiguity. You can take a vague question and return a clear, defensible answer with the work shown.
- Ownership. Self-directed, dependable in an async remote setting, and energized by a small team where your output matters.
Why Spydertrade
- Real ownership. A seat at the core of the research process, not a cog in a pipeline.
- Direct impact. Your analysis feeds live decisions and you see the results.
- Modern toolkit. State-of-the-art software and a proprietary edge to build on.
- Lean and focused. A small team, minimal bureaucracy, and process discipline that respects your time.
